YOUR GUIDED SPANISH LESSON · ABOUT 3 MINUTES

Ask someone to slow down

Learn the Spanish first. Hear it, understand it, then try saying it yourself.

Use this when someone speaks too quickly. It works even when you cannot yet explain very much in Spanish.

Listen and practice

English guidance and Spanish examples use your device’s voices. Your original video with Michael is below.

SAY THIS IN SPANISH

Más despacio, por favor.

Slower, please.

Make sense of the Spanish

Más means more; despacio means slowly. Together, más despacio asks for a slower pace. Por favor makes the request polite.

Use it in another way

¿Puede hablar más despacio?

Can you speak more slowly? (polite)

Estoy aprendiendo español.

I’m learning Spanish.

Your turn

Look away and say the main Spanish phrase. Then listen again and compare. Try changing one word to make the phrase useful to you.

Reveal the Spanish phrase

Más despacio, por favor.

Quick check: Someone is speaking too fast. What can you say?

Practice here as often as you like. This quick check does not change your course quiz scores.
